Custom order Sharon - Black Mourning Button Guernsey Beach Necklace Floral
Please do not purchase unless you are SHARON !
Absolutely stunning Victorian mourning glass button! This button dates back to the 1880s - early 1900s and was found on a beach on Guernsey a hundred years later. This lovely button would have adorned a silken black dress during the very fashionable period of Queen Victoria who made Mourning for Prince Albert a very important part of her life. The button is black glass with an intricate floral texture. Only under a very strong source of light it shows it’s hidden secret colour - a deep purple.
SIZE
Overall approx. 20mm diameter button in silver plated band setting - on 18" sterling silver chain.
